Baxter wrestling starts era with five losses

BONDURANT — The Baxter wrestling program got off to a rocky start on Dec. 2 during the Ken Estling Blue Jay Duals hosted by Bondurant-Farrar.

The Bolts lost all five duals they participated in. Baxter lost 81-0 to Bondurant-Farrar, 66-6 to Boone, 53-0 to Saydel, 55-6 to Des Moines Lincoln and 36-18 to Collins-Maxwell. The losses gave them a sixth-place finish.

Baxter’s lineup features a lot of open weights. They gave up nine forfeits to Bondurant-Farrar and the closest loss was a 13-6 defeat by Austin Good at 145.

Shane Beougher won by forfeit for Baxter at 182 against Boone. Brad Matthews won by forfeit against Des Moines Lincoln at 195 pounds.

The Bolts took three forfeits against their former athletic partner Collins-Maxwell. Beougher took one at 182, Micah Kearns was given one at 220 and Good earned a forfeit win at 152.

Baxter resumes action at 9 a.m. on Dec. 9 at the Saydel Invitational in Des Moines.
