Newton Police Department
• Zachery M. Lambertus, 19, of Newton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 9:23 a.m. Feb. 19. According to Newton police, officers were sent to Hy-Vee for a fight in progress. Officers talked to the two individuals involved in the fight, one of who was Lambertus. Lambertus was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail when it was discovered he was driving with a suspended license. While being processed at the jail, a small, clear glass vile which smelled like marijuana was found on Lambertus.
• Dabreshia D. Barnes, 38, of Newton, was charged with disorderly conduct at 1:49 p.m. Feb. 19. According to Newton police, an officer was sent to the 600 block of East 19th Street North for a complaint of loud music. The complainant told the officer the music was on during all times of the day. Barnes told the officer she intended to continue to play the music that way, so the victim filed a disorderly conduct charge against Barnes. Barnes received a citation, summoning her to appear in court.
• Jeffrey L. Stewart, 35, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication at 6:22 p.m. Friday. According to Newton police, officers were sent to the 500 block of East Fourth Street North for an intoxicated male. Upon arrival, officers found Stewart standing inside a garage with watery and bloodshot eyes, along with an odor of alcohol coming from Stewart. A bottle of Popov vodka was also found sitting on the floor next to Stewart, and he admitted to officers the bottle was his, and he did not live at the address. After failing sobriety tests, Stewart was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
