Newton Police Department

• Pathana Thongvahn, 52, of Newton, was charged with two counts of theft at 5:56 p.m. March 2. According to Newton police, officers were sent to Walmart for a shoplifting complaint. After talking with asset protection employees, officers learned Thongvahn allegedly failed to scan all of the items she was purchasing, totaling $295.35.
