Our sad family garden news

My name is Abby McNeer, 10, and I want to share the latest news from our family garden.

My brother Adam, 8, and I have had a garden together for quite some time now in downtown Newton at the Community Garden spot.

My grandpa John has helped us every step of the way, from planting the seeds, to my favorite part which is picking the veggies when they are done. It’s been a very fun tradition for us. I love watching everything grow.

But, last week something sad happened. My grandpa went to water our garden, only to find that someone had stolen our cabbage, some peppers and tomatoes that still needed to grow.

This is the second year that this has happened, even though we made signs that said “Please do not take.” It made me very sad.

However, we still have next year, and our garden will once again be a huge success as it has been in the years past. I just hope the person that stole our stuff has a guilty conscience.
