Newton chamber hosting school supply drive

COVID-19 has impacted the community and with the upcoming school year just around the corner, and giving being down this year, schools and teachers need support more than ever.

The Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with local elementary schools to take donations of new school supplies.

Newton Schools have been working hard to provide meals, learning opportunities and support students and their families. In an effort to alleviate financial stress for families who have lost jobs or income, they want to partner with community businesses to supply much needed school supplies this fall. The items will assist the majority of student needs, leaving just a handful of materials for families to purchase. These supplies will be distributed between the four elementary buildings in all classrooms, preschool through fourth grade.

If you are interested in donating, contact the chamber for a list of supplies by emailing director@experiencenewton.com. Then indicate the specific items you have chosen to donate as well as how many of those items you are donating. Items need to be donated no later than Aug. 14.
